La Marató 2024 Funds Respiratory Disease Research

The latest edition of La Marató de 3Cat raised €10 million, which will fund 36 research projects on respiratory diseases led by 60 research teams. In Catalonia, these diseases affect over two million people and are the second leading cause of hospitalisation and the third leading cause of death, yet they remain largely underdiagnosed and poorly understood.

For the 2024 edition94 projects were submitted and evaluated by 93 international experts, who assessed them based on quality, methodology, and relevance. The evaluation was managed by the Catalan Agency for Health Quality and Assessment (AQuAS) under the Department of Health. Of the 36 funded projects20 are individual projects and 16 are coordinated by two or more research centres.

The results of this call were made public on Thursday, 6 November 2024.
