Postdoctoral Researcher
Ania studied Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Bologna and completed her Master’s thesis at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, focusing on the design and synthesis of molecules targeting neurodegenerative diseases.She obtained her PhD in Biotechnology working at the Institute of Marine Sciences (Barcelona), where she combined molecular simulations and machine learning to engineer plastic-degrading enzymes.
During a research stay at the Institute Pasteur (Paris), she contributed to the development of PANDORA, a deep-learning model for predicting protein stability.
Her research bridges synthetic organic chemistry, computational modelling, and artificial intelligence.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Rovira Lab, where she uses QM/MM simulations to investigate catalytic mechanisms in carbohydrate-active enzymes.
In her free time, Ania enjoys open-water swimming, cycling trips, improv theatre, drawing and writing.
