Postdoctoral Researcher
Dr. Zahra Noori graduated with a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry in 2024 from Iran (Damghan University). She began her doctoral research with the synthesis and investigation of the catalytic properties of nanoperovskites, particularly brownmillerite calcium ferrite. In 2022, she was awarded a scholarship from the Iranian Ministry of Science and joined the research group of Prof. Jordi Poater at the University of Barcelona (UB) to carry out the computational part of her PhD project.
With the aim to further develop her expertise in computational chemistry, after completing her PhD, Zahra remained in the group at UB as a postdoctoral researcher. Using the ADF and SYSMOIC programs, she investigates the aromaticity of a wide range of organic and organometallic systems, with a particular focus on borane clusters. Magnetic and electronic descriptors enable her to gain a deeper understanding of electron delocalization in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional systems.
She also applies Kohn–Sham molecular orbital theory to investigate selectivity in DNA replication, including hydrogen bonding and π-stacking in unnatural base pairs. Her research direction aligns closely with her supervisor’s expertise, allowing her to deepen her understanding of aromaticity, electronic structure, and molecular interactions across both organic and biomolecular systems. All this effort has translated in seven publications in top peer-reviewed journals like Organic Chemistry Frontiers, ACS Phys Chem Au, or Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry.
