Marina Giannotti among co-authors in Nature Methods
Following the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) Data Symposium, held alongside the 15th AFM BioMed Conference in Barcelona in April 2025, the commentary “A FAIR road to a bioAFM databank” has just been published in Nature Methods. Marina I. Giannotti is among a broad group of co-authors from the global AFM community advocating for a shift toward making AFM data openly available through public repositories.
In this commentary, the initial efforts to establish a high-quality repository for AFM data, bioAFM-DB, are highlighted. The current state of this initiative, the challenges it faces, and potential pathways toward building a robust and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) AFM data resource are also discussed.
