Computer Graphics and virtual reality design for scientific visualization

COMPUTER GRAPHICS AND VIRTUAL REALITY DESIGN FOR SCIENTIFIC VISUALIZATION

The Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry of the Universitat de Barcelona (IQTCUB), accredited as Maria de Maeztu Centre of Excellence, is integrated by more than 60 researchers, experts in several fields of the Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. The research activity carried out at the IQTCUB covers methods and computational tools development, application of several techniques of electronic structures and simulation to problems in materials science, nanoelectronics, the study of reactivity and reaction dynamics in chemical reactions as well as of biological systems and soft-matter.

The IQTCUB is currently accepting applications from 2D/3D Animators to manage projects in scientific visualization, virtual reality and augmented reality (in collaboration with companies).

Specific Responsibilities

  • Main task, render high resolution 2D and 3D images/animations in Blender, Maya or similar 3D rendering software for their application in scientific visualization.
  • Participation in developing Scientific VR/AR applications for various departments of the institute.

Skills and Requirements

  • Experience in creating beautiful 2D and 3D renderings and animations
  • Proficient in Blender, Maya and Photoshop or similar software
  • Expertise to create VR/AR applications that will be applied for scientific visualization
  • Strong organizational skills, attention-to-detail and excellent follow-up and follow through skills
  • Ability to innovate and problem solve both independently and collaboratively

Others valued skills:

  • Knowledge in Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools), Google Analytics.
  • Python, Html, php, css, xml, javascript and SQL knowledge

Summary of conditions:

Contract Length: 1 year, extendable to 4 year

Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

Estimated Incorporation date: as soon as possible
