Clinically-Ready Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted Drug Delivery

An international research team has developed a complete system to control and release drugs inside the body using magnetic microrobots. The project is led by the Josep Puigmartí Luis, from the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (IQTC), in collaboration with other institutions. The technology combines a clinical-grade electromagnetic navigation system, a precision catheter, and biodegradable micro-capsules to deliver therapeutics at exact target sites—offering a major advance toward minimally invasive, precisely targeted medical treatments.
