II Workshop of Initiation on Quantum Computing
Following the success of the first edition, we recently held the 2nd Workshop of Initiation on Quantum Computing, once again promoted by the Institut de Química Teòrica i Computacional UB (Institut de Química Teòrica i Computacional UB) and supported by the Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya (CSUC), at the Faculty of Chemistry of theUniversitat de Barcelona.
This second edition was organized and delivered by Jhonathan Souza and Alejandro Jaramillo, with the valuable collaboration of Arnau Rios, whose contribution was key to making this new edition improved. We also sincerely thank Emanuele Costa and Raúl Fuentes for their active participation and engagement during the workshop, valuable insights and expertise throughout the sessions.
As part of the Institut de Química Teòrica i Computacional UB initiative to spread knowledge and foster new talent in quantum computing, PhD students had the opportunity to:
• Learn the foundations of Quantum Information Theory
• Work on hands-on Python exercises using the Qibo package
• Design, operate, and simulate quantum circuits
• Program quantum algorithms such as the VQE algorithm
