Seminar: “Influence of Molecular Chirality in STM junctions and long-distance ET in biological systems”

Next Monday, the 30th of November there will be a IQTCUB seminar given by Vladimiro Mujica from Arizona State University/Northwestern University/Donostia International Physics Center entitled:

“Influence of Molecular Chirality in STM junctions and long-distance ET in biological systems”

The act will take place at Sala d’Actes, department of Physical Chemistry. at 12:00h.

Abstract:

The recent discovery of the CISS (Chirality-induced spin selection) has many implications for our understanding of electron transport in junctions,  intramolecular electron transfer and chemical reactions.  We have developed a theoretical model for CISS that has enough flexibility to accommodate the description of both type of processes and in this talk I will discuss some of the most dramatic consequences this effect in biological electron transport and STM junctions, with emphasis on some striking new experiments to measure conductance in chiral molecular junctions carried out at the University of Barcelona.
