IQTC-UB seminar on May 21st, 2019 at 12:00 in the meetings room 400 of the Química Físicas ection (4th floor)

Title: Pt-Containing Nanostructured Electrocatalysts for Low-Temperature Fuel Cells

Prof. Vladimir Guterman
Chemistry Faculty, Southern Federal University, Rostov-on-Don, Russia

Platinum nanoparticles deposited on the surface of carbon microparticles are the best electrocatalysts for hydrogen-air and alcohol fuel cells with a proton exchange membrane (PEMFC and DMFC). Alloying of platinum with some d-metals increases its catalytic activity, as well as the durability of catalysts during the operation. The lecture discusses the features of the influence of the composition and architecture of PtMx nanoparticles on the activity and durability of catalysts. Much attention is paid to the management of the hierarchical structure of catalysts in the synthesis, as well as the peculiarities of changes in the composition and structure of bimetallic nanoparticles during PEMFC operation.
