12 IQTC Researchers Among the World’s Most Influential Scientists
The University of Barcelona (UB) stands out once again for its research excellence:
157 UB researchers are among the top 2% most influential scientists worldwide, according to the latest Stanford ranking published by Elsevier.
In the 2024 citation-based ranking, 174 UB researchers were also recognized for their recent scientific impact. The UB ranks first among Spanish universities, ahead of the Complutense University of Madrid (106), the University of Granada (100), and both the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Valencia (90 each).
Within Catalonia, 947 scientists are included in the global list — 34% of them from the UB.
Among the UB researchers featured in the ranking, eight belong to the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (IQTC):
Pere Alemany, Santiago Álvarez, Albert Bruix, Jordi Cirera, Francesc Illas, Francisco Javier Luque, Ángel Morales-García, Jordi Poater, Josep Puigmartí-Luis, Francesc Viñes, Carme Rovira and Eliseo Ruiz.
